Women are vastly underrepresented in the global technology space. The UK only employs 17% of women in tech and 42% of them find the lack of female role models in the industry a top barrier when finding a new job.
This breakfast event, held in partnership with Women in Tech, addressed the gender imbalance in tech. It is a fundamentally broken system that can only be fixed on a large scale – with businesses of all sizes, government bodies and schools coming together to reinvent the wheel.
While education plays a key part in growing that 17%, organisational culture can also be adapted to welcome a more diverse talent pool. From flexible work hours, to promoting tech role models for young girls or even running targeted events like hackathons or open days can help employers become more female-friendly.
Check out our post-event whitepaper to find out how to improve gender diversity in your tech team.
